Born from a sensitivity to one's surroundings, both toward the environment's physical qualities and the emotions that they evoke, the images found within this website represent a life long interest in place making. A passion to discover, study and create beautiful places has fueled both my architecture and photography careers.

As a photograph records the inner vision of the photographer, buildings in essence become a recorded response of the designer's understanding of place. A building design should not only fit within its environment but become an integral part of it. The subtle expansion and contraction of the transition between the interior man-made world and the natural world becomes the designer's most powerful tool for place making. Many of the photographs found in this site explore this threshold between man-made and nature.

I discovered photography only four years ago, ten years after entering the field of architecture. At the time photography was primarily an extension of my architectural career and a wonderful tool for helping me increase my understanding of place. Now photography has become a full time career. I believe that my sensitivity and developed understanding of place allows me to make unique and meaningful contributions through the photographic medium.
